We bury the King of Pop Do you know the real King
July 7, 2009
The wounds inflicted upon us when we are young can cut very deeply. When those wound are the result of family members or loved ones who abused their influence, it can distort our view of ourselves and others. Some numb the pain with food, drugs, and abusive relationships. Others choose to escape into a fantasy world of their own making. Still others completely check out on life and live in obscurity in the shadows.
In one interview brought on by the passing of Michael Jackson, a reporter said that Michael told on of his spiritual advisors that the reason he taught himself to sing, the reason he taught his feet to move so fast, was so he could be loved. How sad.
Didn't anyone ever tell him that God loved him unconditionally? Didn't anyone ever share with Him that God loved him so much He sent his Son to die for him?
Because Michael felt unworthy, he found himself on a performance treadmill. On the outside, he had all the makings of success as seen by society. But on the inside his life must have been a life imprisoned by fear, condemnation, shame, unworthiness, and rejection. He hadn't truly learned to let Jesus be His Lord.
Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Is the cry of your heart for someone to tell you you're accepted, special, and loved? Well, God is faithful. His sovereign plan is much different from your own. Begin to read His Word and learn how to find Him and His love. Learn who you are and whose you are. You were fearfully and wonderfully made by Him in His image. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27 NIV)Align yourself with people who can help you discover your true worth in God. This will help you break yokes of bondage that have you bound to depression, a poor self image, and a feeling of low self worth.
Don't allow the message of rejection from your background to determine your self image and what God could call you to do if you allow Him to have the final word. Operate out of the image God gave you. Listen only to His voice. Hear His affirmation that you are His beloved in whom He is well pleased.
